Favorite submitted by rlmorgan on July 28, 2013, 9:37am This is one of my favorite books from when I was a kid, and it is fun to read again. It has a great message too.

Great for teaching girls independence submitted by LC Smalls on August 7, 2013, 10:46am This is my all-time favorite book. Being a middle-school girl is not easy and never has been but this story teaches girls to take control of their lives instead of sitting idly by. Plagued by a curse that bestows her with blind obedience, Ella runs away to change her fate and take control over her own life that had been ruled by less-than-savory people. This is not a story about wimpy beauties who wait for princes to rescue them, it's about a young woman who learns to be strong and go after what she wants all by herself.

Favorite book of all time submitted by romanticmind on August 19, 2013, 6:23pm I'd like to think I'm a fairly well-read individual, but at the end of the day this is still my favorite book ever. It was a very formative book to have read as a young woman. I learned along with Ella to assert myself and to find my own value in the world, something for which I am eternally grateful. This a wonderful book for anyone to read--check it out today!

Enchanting submitted by eagles on August 20, 2013, 11:54am It's just like in the title. She is enchanting, and she goes on a journey to break the spell, she is very determined. I really like this book and the movie is just as great

Love It submitted by zidrissu on August 20, 2013, 4:35pm This book is very nice and is something a teacher could read to young students without them getting too bored. I love that Gail, the author, has such a vivid imagination and made an awesome book out of it.

Favorite book ever!!:) submitted by George Hoffmann on June 29, 2014, 12:10pm "Ella Enchanted" is my favorite book ever! It really captures all of Ella's struggles after Eleanor (Ella's mother) dies. It is a very unexpected and successful twist on the classic tale of cinderella.

Simpley enchanting submitted by Margaret Florence on June 20, 2016, 5:02am When l started reading this book, l thought it was super boring. Then Ella meets Hattie, and the book goes from a bor-a-thon to an awesomley amazingly enchantig book. l simpley LOVED Ella Enchanted.

An enchanting must read! submitted by VanCancue on June 20, 2018, 6:16pm It doesn't matter if you've watched the movie already. The movie slightly deviates from the book anyway. It is a must read adorable story. Even my sister a first time reader could not put this book down. she still is trying to get through harry potter....

Ella Enchanted submitted by unknown on June 21, 2018, 5:12pm This book is one of my favorite books and it really makes the fairy tale like a fairy tale. I’d say without a doubt that I like this book far more than the original Cinderella story.

Very Good, but not this authors best submitted by lballard on August 9, 2018, 3:59am Charming tale that combines the fantasy of a fairy tale with a realistic take on the consequences that would occur if someone was blessed with obedience.

Classic submitted by zmclaugh on June 19, 2019, 8:48pm A fun take on the fairy tale, much better than the movie.

Ella Enchanted submitted by EuniceWe on July 21, 2020, 4:05pm This has to be my favorite book that is based off of fairy tales. Ella has the power of obedience which means she can't object an order. This put me into thought of how it would feel if that was me. The challenges she faces, is a lot like reality (though there is no such thing as the power of obedience and fairy godmothers). Though this story is based off of Cinderella, Gail Carson Levine put her own Twists that made a classic fairy tale more exciting then ever.

I adore this book! submitted by amandasaurus on June 19, 2022, 11:56pm I love the twist on Cinderella that culminates in a “the damsel saves herself” moment, though it’s not as showy as most stories. Incredibly written, the characters are so well thought out, and the story sees both Ella and Char working together instead of one saving the other, which I appreciate.

Surprisingly darker than the movie submitted by mssthoma on June 27, 2022, 11:46pm The movie is a goofy light hearted comedy. The book delicately but directly deals with tragic situations without the silliness, such as her mother’s death in the very beginning. My girls (ages 3-10) love it, and I’m surprised by how much I’ve been enjoying listening to it. The story doesn’t shy away from how dangerous her situation is, but (at least so far) also doesn’t get into any adult situations either. Loses a star for the languages of the other species/lands, it just wasn’t very well done.

Lovely, witty book for all ages submitted by shaight on August 1, 2022, 7:39pm There's a reason I keep coming back to this book time and again over the years. It's one of my absolute favorites. I first read it when I was about 10 years old, and I was captivated by it. One of my favorite things about this book is that it doesn't read too juvenile, so I can continue to come back and reread this book every few years and enjoy it all the same. Ella Enchanted is a lovely book that teaches readers of all ages to fight for what they believe in.
