Angels and Insects All the Way Through submitted by Jan Wolter on July 31, 2013, 9:52pm This is not my favorite Balanescu Quartet piece (that would be their "Possessed" album, in which the string quartet amazingly covers Kraftwerk pieces originally composed to be performed on synthesizers), but it's certainly angelically gorgeous in its minimalist manner, while at the same time continuously bringing to mind the slow steady creeping of insects. The whole album is rather a lot of the same, which is natural since the movie it is the soundtrack to doesn't have a vast emotional range, but still, listening to any one track is enough to give you the idea of the whole album. Probably functions wonderfully as background music when you are in a mood for somber elegance.
