I Mean Its Infinite Jest submitted by jmwink_ on July 29, 2019, 9:27am At some point in the mid-2000s having read Infinite Jest became a sort of status symbol among crunchy guys trying to impress English major girls. As a result, I think a lot of people avoid talking about having read it because they don't want to be lumped in with shitty dudes. The truth is, I get it. But I think the pendulum has swung too far. Infinite Jest is good. It's a book I enjoyed the experience of reading. Its exhausting and it's work to read, but the story is engaging and the social commentary deftly anticipates the future we now inhabit. Just try not to become a guy who's whole deal is they've read Infinite Jest, okay?

Creating your own worldview submitted by suttonp on July 18, 2020, 4:36pm In a weird way, this reminded me of a Wes Anderson movie in that it submerges you in the author's somewhat skewed viewpoint. I'm glad I read it, to see what all the fuss is about. In my humble opinion, if you want to read a "long" book just to say you have, I'd recommend War and Peace, Anna Karenina or Atlas Shrugged over this one.

I would definitely recommend submitted by pictury on July 15, 2023, 10:39pm Unique, hilarious, and for such an intimidating book it reads surprisingly fast. The story is so engaging it pulls you in.
