COMMUNITY REVIEWS
Louisiana Folk Music submitted by Meginator on July 28, 2019, 1:24pm This compilation of zydeco songs illustrates the wide-ranging musical influences that feed into this unique style, from country, rock and roll, and the blues to several folk traditions. The genre has a lovely sense of place to it, with the mixture of French and English lyrics further highlighting its origin in Louisiana’s bayous. The consistent upbeat accordion acts as a connecting tissue between all of the tracks, and it’s really interesting to hear how each of these artists adapts the general style and instrumentation of zydeco to their own musical sensibility.
