COMMUNITY REVIEWS

Robber Bride submitted by Jen Chapin-Smith on August 23, 2019, 2:53pm Margaret Atwood's 1993 novel portrays the sometimes close and at other times adversarial relationships between women. The story is told from the perspective of three friends--Roz, Charis, and Tony--each of whom has lost a husband or boyfriend to a former classmate of theirs, Zenia, whom they all thought was dead but who has suddenly re-appeared. Zenia is particularly manipulative, not just of men but of these three female friends. Atwood later wrote a short story, "I Dream of Zenia with the Bright Red Teeth", featuring the same four characters.
Warning: the novel contains scenes about child rape.
