Beautiful submitted by emjane on July 22, 2012, 6:24pm William Joyce’s Santa Calls is my favorite holiday picture book, though it’s less known than many classics. It follows the adventures of Art, Esther, and Spaulding—three kids who received a mysterious package telling them to go north. Joyce’s art-deco illustrations give a whimsical and somewhat futuristic picture of the North Pole. Though the pages are a little text-heavy, making it a better choice for older readers, you won’t want to miss a word.
