like my finding you submitted by wekropf on June 21, 2021, 8:24pm Such a clever and evocative story with cutting personalities. The themes are unsavory but children can handle them. The story is delightfully imaginative and demonstrates how children can persevere and prevail in the face of adult absurdity and cruelty. The illustrations are gorgeous and the bone is one to root for.

The vulnerability of the protagonist is not played down and the words match the images in strength. A jewel of a picture book, it elevates the form.
