The King, tired of rain, snow, sun, and fog, commands his magicians to make something else come down from the sky, but when oobleck falls, in sticky greenish droplets, Bartholomew Cubbins shames the King and saves the kingdom.

COMMUNITY REVIEWS

One of Seuss's best submitted by Cami K on July 14, 2012, 8:11pm This is my favorite Dr. Seuss book. It has a good story line and a good message. Bartholomew appears in a few other Seuss books as well.

Oobleck submitted by SBNB on June 28, 2014, 1:11pm Maybe I haven't read enough Dr. Seuss books, but this one seemed to be a different style from the Dr. Seuss that I'm used to. It was more like a story and less like a rhyme. But even so, it was still an enjoyable read.

Oobleck submitted by candyceh811 on July 26, 2015, 9:43pm You can mix corn starch and water to make your own oobleck at home after reading this book.

great to do submitted by lgpat on August 25, 2015, 11:03pm read the book then make the oobleck.....pk kids will love it

Be careful what you wish for submitted by FordAlpha on August 24, 2017, 7:02pm This sequel to "The 500 Hats of Bartholomew Cubbins" is one of Dr. Seuss's longest picture books, and it is told in prose, so it's better for somewhat older kids (perhaps 4-7) who have the attention span to stick with it. It's a fun cautionary tale in which King Derwin of Didd gets bored of the ordinary things that fall from the sky, like rain and snow, and asks his magicians to come up with a new sort of precipitation. The result is awfully messy, and Bartholomew must convince the king to take responsibility for his mistake.

A Seuss story submitted by Aimless on July 24, 2019, 6:25pm Not just a poem

A favorite submitted by sara on July 20, 2020, 4:48pm This was one of my favorite books when I was a child.
