The most beautiful story EVER told... submitted by Kikumatsu97 on August 25, 2014, 8:50am I also loved books like The Velveteen Rabbit, but it was still a bit stressful and I hated stress as a child more than I do now. :-D This story is a stress free account of a day or so in Kenny's world of imagination and some bits of friendly reality. As young girls my sister and I used to lay on a floor-bed of blankets listening to the vinyl recording of Tammy Grimes' amazing reading voice and slowly drift off to sleep with the greatest images in our heads. This is one of the books that literally formed my love of reading for my children. Kenny, The Little White Goat, The Rooster with Four Feet- all linger in my fondest childhood memories. There is no other book like it.

The reading time is rather extraordinary. It's long enough to be read at bedtime and short enough to hold a child's attention.
A wonderful world of feeling and childhood experience that as adults we may peer into and with a totally different understanding of how the world works, remember easier days. Maurice Sendak relates so well to children that I wonder if he ever grew up.
