Great book for toddlers submitted by mhastings on July 9, 2013, 10:48am Richard Scarry's What Do People Do All Day is an excellent book for toddlers. Each page has a brief description/story of a different activity or occupation in town such as mailing a letter, taking a train trip, and building a house. Each story is around five pages in length, so the book can be read in several sittings. Many objects in the book are labeled for beginning readers.

One of Lat's favorites as a kid. submitted by tbbrown76 on July 20, 2014, 5:19pm We still like it.

What do people do all day? submitted by Alliemayzee on August 21, 2014, 6:58am Well you will find out when you borrow this book. Such a fun, informative book for small children trying to get a grasp of people everywhere doing different things, and interacting with each other. It's great!

Fun overview of different jobs submitted by willow on August 18, 2015, 10:18am This book consists of different vignettes of various Busy Town animals in their job. The graphics are, as usual, lots of fun.

Unfortunately this is an abridged edition, the unabridged containing a few more jobs, including about coal and water and being a mother.

How wonderful submitted by luveu96 on August 2, 2019, 6:26pm What a wonderful picture book. We love it.

Stone Cold Classic submitted by jibkidder on June 13, 2022, 1:18pm As far as children's media goes this is close to the top!!!

Great submitted by Bookeepers on July 23, 2022, 7:22pm Very traditional gender stereotypes. But a great book overall.

all submitted by smr on July 25, 2022, 12:30pm people do all day

Love Richard Scarry submitted by abliu on July 30, 2022, 10:42pm The illustrations contain so many lovely details - both kiddos pour over these for good 30-min chunks each time. And they keep on coming back to these over and over again. I also really like how it shows kids the components of different jobs. They are little enough where they can't read but look at the pictures. I think it's going to be even better when we can help them read the text.

Still good! submitted by thesrays on August 8, 2022, 10:13pm I loved this book as a child, so it was a special treat to realize that I still enjoy it when sharing it with my own children. This is a classic that stands the test of time.

Excellent book submitted by SNG on July 28, 2023, 4:12pm An excellent picture book for kids

Classic. submitted by berkleya on August 4, 2023, 11:38pm Now that my kids are older, it's really fun to remind them of the weird and cheerful chaos of this and other Scarry books when we happen upon similar absurdities in the real world.

Fun but a little outdated submitted by Stclain on August 12, 2023, 10:02pm The part about what mothers do all day is a pretty outdated. But other than that it's a fun way to teach little kids about different jobs!
