Lord Peter's inaugural appearance submitted by terpsichore17 on July 24, 2017, 10:38pm Here we first meet Lord Peter Wimsey: gentleman-detective, collector of incunabula, and singer of Bach in the bath. And yet, even as Sayers is laying out her mystery (echoing/spoofing contemporary tales, particularly the bit with the medical student), she gives us a man suffering from shell-shock who is rightly horrified by the things men can do to each other.

Worth reading and re-reading.

Excellent introduction to the best literary sleuth: Lord Peter Wimsey submitted by ToriLaneP on July 20, 2021, 12:13pm A beautiful constructed and written mystery. Not the best in the series, but that is to be expected from the first book.
