My go-to cookbook submitted by AndAReaderToo on July 28, 2022, 10:18pm This isn’t your picture-laden, insta-whatever book. But if you need a recipe for most anything in the classic 20th century USAmerican food cannon, it’s here. It’s what my mother and grandmother had, and it’s what I learned cooking with. Helpfully, there are short sections above recipes that give you context or tips, and several pages of these on different categories as well (ie breads, custards). Another helpful aspect of this book is there are often multiple versions of the same recipe, so you can decide if you need something quick, or you want to spend more time and make it fancier, or just with a variation. This has everything from quiche Lorraine to brownies and everything in between.
