Review submitted by bbelalggazali on June 18, 2011, 4:27pm This book keeps you on your toes, though it is sad

Sad submitted by Zhengyang1022 on July 13, 2011, 12:53pm This book is really good, but it is so sad. It is about a little boy named Billy and his two dogs, Little Ann and Old Dan. Together they hunt and catch coons. Its to sad to tell the last part. All in all, its one of my favorite books and you should really read it.

Excellent read! submitted by ilovewillow on August 8, 2011, 10:23am One of the best books I've read. I'm definitely adding a copy to my home library. Have tissue ready when you're nearing the end!

Sad T.T submitted by gxl on July 17, 2012, 7:31pm I read this book as a six grade assignment and I really enjoyed it!! It is very sad at the end. Still it is a completely great book!!! I totally recommend it!!!

So sad submitted by lec.dank on June 23, 2013, 5:57pm BUT AWESOME

Sad submitted by philiptv on July 16, 2013, 12:05pm Sad but so good. I highly recommend it.

Still good 25 years later submitted by Susan4Pax -prev. sueij- on June 21, 2014, 8:51pm As we were about to get a dog, I put out a display of dog books in our library for the kids, and this one really caught my eye. It was a favorite growing up, and I stood there and read the first few pages... and then walked away and finished reading.

A touching story just as well-written and enjoyable now as it was when I was a kid, about a boy and the dogs he loves.

Memories submitted by elsbetherin on August 10, 2014, 8:26pm I remember reading this in middle school and being very touched by the connection between the boy and his dogs. It is hard to imagine having to loose your best friends so young.

Great! submitted by bookworms on June 23, 2017, 9:23pm During this story, Billy and his dogs form an unbreakable bond and work their way up to becoming the best coon hunters in the country. This book was adorable! Not a single page was boring! New challenges for Billy and his dogs to tackle where around every corner! I would recommend this to fans of "Old Yeller". This is an amazing read!

Amazing book! submitted by avakunnath on July 1, 2019, 5:24pm My dad recommended this book to me since he loved it as a kid. I love it too! It’s beautifully written with a sad end but I read it again and again.

Great book submitted by crp on August 10, 2019, 7:15am Required reading for me as a child I still think it’s worth reading today.

This is an amazing book! submitted by anonymous on July 18, 2020, 5:41pm “Where the Red Fern Grows” by Wilson Rawls, is the story of a boy in the Ozark mountains, and his two red-bone hound dogs. They go on many hunting expeditions and develop a deep bond. When Billy’s dogs die to save his life, he has a hard time understanding why God would allow the tragedy. Although sad, this is a wonderful book, and as it says on the cover, “a Must- Read for kids 9- 14”.
