A treasure submitted by CarolSeidl on November 30, 2018, 10:04am I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for authentic accounts of American life. Heartfelt, brutal, and often darkly farcical, these stories transport the reader to the southern part of the United States in the 40s, 50s, and 60s. They also beautifully illustrate the pointlessness of seeking to change your personal circumstances by trying to change the actions/beliefs of the people around you.

Recommended! submitted by sushai on August 23, 2020, 1:43pm How disorienting to read a book of short stories written 70-ish years ago that so accurately portrays an absurdly large number of Americans in 2020. The same soulless, mean-spirited folks who see themselves as better than others and often thank God for giving them that distinction. I see that there is a movie version of A Good Man is Hard to Find that has been in pre-production since 2017. For me, each one of the stories in this book could have a movie adaptation, and not necessarily just her most well known story. Looking forward to seeing the documentary on her life soon.
