Worth your time

The images and language in Morrison's work are stunning, vivid, and deep. This is one of those books that looks short and sweet but I had to read just a little bit slowly to make sure that I was soaking it in properly. Her characters have depth that few other authors pull off.

It reminded me of Zora Neale Hurston's _Their Eyes Were Watching God_, come to think of it, in the way that Sula had a broader perspective on the world just like Janie did. Given who the two authors are, I doubt that is entirely coincidental. Sula certainly takes her broader perspective of the world and uses it in entirely different ways than Janie ever did, though. Janie found herself through love, until she was ready to come back home. Sula wandered lost, willing to give pain and feel it, until she came looking for a place to call home and never knew if she found it or not.

Worth your time, if you haven't read it yet.
