Can't put down this book!

I love all of Armistead Maupin's books, especially the "Tales of the City" series. They are compelling page-turners with mystery, romance and surprise. The characters draw you in. For those who lived through the 1970s, the series will feel like a homecoming.

Set in San Francisco, "Tales of the City" and its sequels (all of which are well worth reading) explores the lives of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) characters and their straight friends.

Addictive Entertainment

I really like the quick-moving pace of the interconnected stories that Maupin weaves together. He's excellent at writing cliffhangers that force you to turn to the next chapter. He also writes of San Francisco in such a vivid way that you can almost feel the breeze off the bay. The stories alternate between comedic episodes and dramas worthy of a soap opera. It would make excellent beach reading.
