Greatest growing up submitted by adj737 on July 14, 2018, 7:56pm 2 disc with the whole performance, not just the songs. Takes me back to listening to it non-stop as a kid

Great submitted by zmclaugh on July 18, 2018, 3:13pm Really good musical.

a sing a long of a classic submitted by jessNU on July 25, 2018, 6:52pm Includes the whole performance, including the songs. Better to watch it live, but now you can sing a long.

Lloyd Webber has skills submitted by FordAlpha on July 30, 2018, 1:26pm Perhaps Andrew Lloyd Webber's greatest skill is making a whole musical that has raked in zillions of dollars out of maybe three musical motifs. The music from "The Phantom of the Opera" is so memorable because there's really not much to remember. You gotta admire that kind of genius.

Still fun submitted by MMCochran on August 5, 2018, 8:29am I loved this musical as a kid. Checked out the CD to listen to with my girls. I had forgotten how very little character and plot there are. Nonetheless, we enjoy the drama of the organ music and the parts we can sing along (off-key, of course).

The Phantom Of The Opera submitted by SBNB on August 18, 2018, 9:24pm This is some great music. The original recordings are so much better than the movie recordings.

Panic! At the Opera submitted by Meginator on August 21, 2021, 8:50am This musical is nothing if not dramatic, both in its larger-than-life storyline (and its many literal nods to theatre itself) and in the soaring, instantly memorable melodies that anchor its core musical motifs. The performances are stunning, as the main parts require quite a bit of literal and stylistic vocal range, and the music blends opera and traditional musical theater with modern rock instrumentation to good dramatic effect. The plot becomes a bit convoluted and it’s helpful to know its main components ahead of time, but the music itself interacts well with the lyrics to tell the story. The album is a bit repetitive in isolation, given Webber’s constant reuse of the same musical motifs, but this is a striking and unforgettable show nonetheless.
