A Unique Blend submitted by Meginator on August 1, 2022, 3:54pm Dr. John’s music is a blend of several genres, yet it always has a sense of spontaneity and liveliness to it that calls back to its New Orleans origins. This album tracks much of his career as his music evolves over time, in constant conversation with other musicians and styles yet always retaining a specific and unique identity. Built on a base of jazz base but incorporating a wide range of other musical styles (most notably funk, soul, and early rock and roll), the music has something for everyone without sounding quite like anything else out there. Dr. John is a real gem.
