COMMUNITY REVIEWS

Final Book of the Isis Trilogy submitted by Jan Wolter on August 8, 2013, 9:56am Monica Hughes wrote stories for much of her life, but never published a book until she was in her fifties. She published quite a lot after that, including quite a few first class young adult science fiction novels.

This is the third book in the very fine series that begins with "The Keeper of Isis Light" and "The Guardian of Isis". The stories are independent enough that they could be read in any order, but connected enough that doing so would spoil some of the fun. Best to take them in order. "The Keeper of Isis Light" is a winner of the Phoenix Award, an award given twenty years later to children's books that weren't much noted at their time of publication, but that stand the test of time. "The Guardian of Isis" is perhaps the strongest of the three books.

In this final book of the series, the primitive colony on Isis encounters a traveling con-artist and his long suffering daughter. It's a satisfying book, pleasantly wrapping up the story of the one character who appears in all three books.
