favorite! submitted by fairytale on June 16, 2013, 3:19pm This is my favorite Frances book!

Also a favorite! submitted by ValerieL on June 23, 2013, 4:57pm This is also my favorite Frances book. I love her little made up songs throughout the book and the way she decides towards the end that perhaps eating other things really isn't so bad after all.

I like all the Frances books. submitted by tbbrown76 on July 30, 2014, 9:44pm So cute. And fun. Good reads all.

A family Classic submitted by Kikumatsu97 on August 10, 2014, 10:35am My mother used to read this book to me and I have passed it down to my children and suggest it always for friends.

Classic submitted by AprilCDB on August 20, 2014, 3:30pm I found this while playing the SG and immediately remembered it from my childhood. I just had to check it out for my son and it's just a classic picky eater story. Just love Frances.

Timeless submitted by mickplu on June 19, 2017, 8:58am Kids today will relate to Frances, the picky eater, the same as they did in 1964, and gobble it up. Wonderful illustrations and lovable characters.

read aloud book submitted by Judeyblu on June 20, 2017, 10:06pm timeless book that's perfect to read aloud.

like it submitted by kathiravan on July 16, 2017, 12:55pm I like it. Pictures are good. Cute.

Favorite submitted by lballard on June 19, 2018, 11:56pm I love this. The wisdom of her mother and the realistic attitude of childhood, and the beautiful language are all things that make this book a timeless classic. All the Francis books are wonderful, but this is one of the best.

Slate Parenting Recommendation submitted by corywill86 on June 18, 2019, 3:48pm I picked this up after hearing about it on the Slat Parenting podcast Mom & Dad Are Fighting. I didn't think my 4yo showed much interest in it -- there were more words per page than we can usually do -- but a few weeks after reading it he spontaneously burst out "Jam on biscuits, jam on toast, jam is the thing I love the most!" So I guess it made an impression.

Wonderful book submitted by hjafuller on August 1, 2019, 6:43am This is such a well-written children’s book with a lovely message. The parents are calm and caring, and Frances will be relatable for any parent with a strong-willed child.

best book for kids submitted by kwinokur on August 18, 2019, 11:04am good book to learn how to read and how to have a good breakfast!

Love submitted by bcartm01 on June 27, 2022, 7:33pm My son loves this Frances book. He hasn’t read any others. Beware is this becomes a favorite bedtime story, it is a little on the long side, but it’s worth it.

A Longer One submitted by GSchne on July 23, 2022, 9:43pm I love this book, but I think it was a bit long (a lot of words per page) for my young reader. I will revisit when he's a bit older.
