Formulaic submitted by 21621031390949 on August 28, 2022, 10:49pm I’m not a big fan of mysteries, especially those series of formulaic plots. But I’d never read any of Grafton’s books and wondered if I was missing out. My conclusion? Meh. I do like that the PI is a woman and that she’s reasonably competent, and I really appreciate the absence of graphic violence and sex. But the characters are pretty stereotypic and, well, I didn’t feel like spending my precious time with them when there are so many more interesting characters and stories in the world. So I finished the book to see how it turned out, and now I’ve read a Sue Grafton novel.
