A hilarious parody of D.H. Lawrence's and Thomas Hardy's earthy, melodramatic novels, the deliriously entertaining "Cold Comfort Farm" is "very probably the funniest book ever written" (The Sunday Times.).

A Comic Novel Not to be Missed
submitted by Jan Wolter on June 26, 2013, 8:31pm
If you like to laugh and don't mind some absurdity, you must read this book.
Flora is a modern girl is forced by circumstances to move in on her country cousins. The remote farm is loomed over by Aunt Ada Doom who never leaves her room because she saw "something nasty in the woodshed" when she was a girl. In various dark corners lurk Amos, the fire-and-brimstone preacher, the oversexed Seth, Reuben, who burns to someday inherit the farm, Elfine, the love struck nature girl, and Adam, the hired man who loves his cows (Graceless, Aimless, Pointless and Feckless) even when their legs fall off. Flora finds this all too absurd to be tolerated, and decides to put things in order. Naturally this leads to... well, no it doesn't lead to that at all, but it does lead to a lot of very funny scenes.
Funny... submitted by keebs23 on July 28, 2015, 9:30pm ... Even though I hate Flora.
Loved This! submitted by downing on August 29, 2016, 3:15pm A classic comedy.
