Beautiful submitted by pk on July 11, 2012, 12:28pm It's been a favorite since my own childhood and it's difficult to say why. The drawings are wonderful. I think we identify with Ping, who doesn't want to be the last duck back and get spanked. And then poor Ping gets in even worse trouble. It is a simple story, but beautifully done. A picture book worth your read-aloud time.

Story is about Ping the duck and how he didn’t want to be last to return home in order to avoid punishment and how he decides he’d rather be last and with his family then out on his own.
