Persevere! submitted by chloelovellroot on July 25, 2011, 3:59pm Though this can be a dense read, it is well worth your time and effort. Ellison provides a dark and yet illuminating view into one man's experience growing up Black in the deep south in the first half of the 20th century, and the pain and conflict he continues to face as he moves north. I have to thank my high school English teacher, Judith DeWoskin, for having us read the first hundred pages, because it became my favorite book of all time when I read it in college.

The best book I have ever read... submitted by crankycrack on June 20, 2015, 12:50am It speaks to who you are despite the myriad ways you can be perceived.

Invisible man submitted by crp on August 10, 2019, 6:50am Must read for all Americans, especially in our current political era. My favorite few lines of this book has to do with mixing the whitest paint by putting a drop of black in it. This should be required in all
Schools.
