"Previously published as Murder for Christmas/Holiday for murder." -- Cover.
"Christmas Eve, and the Lee family's reunion is shattered by a deafening crash of furniture and a high-pitched wailing scream. Upstairs, the tyrannical Simeon Lee lies dead in a pool of blood, his throat slashed. When Hercule Poirot offers to assist, he finds an atmosphere not of mourning but of mutual suspicion. It seems everyone had their own reason to hate the old man."--P. [4] of cover.

does everyone has a motive? submitted by camelsamba on August 12, 2018, 10:13pm There are lots of little clues in this story that can help you see your way to the solution - if your little gray cells are as effective as Poirot's!
A Death at the Holidays submitted by Meginator on August 1, 2022, 3:09pm This Poirot novel gives the Belgian detective a locked-room mystery to solve with a whole house full of suspects who each have their own grudges against the deceased and, in many cases, significant pieces of information to hide from everyone else. The book plays out primarily as a family drama, with the crime and its solution serving more as a colorful background than as plot engines; this general structure is not unusual for a Poirot book, but the balance is quite skewed toward the interpersonal interactions (and, as Poirot himself would say, the psychology) over the actual clues and detection. This, however, is not a bad thing and even if readers can figure out some of the small mysteries that feed into the bigger story the entire picture doesn’t become quite clear until Poirot puts all of the pieces together in the end. With its memorable cast and large number of twists, this is a particularly enjoyable Poirot adventure and an excellent example of the intricate plotting and character development that make Agatha Christie’s work captivating even today.
Another Good Mystery by the Queen of submitted by kathscot on July 29, 2023, 8:37am Christie again presents a baffling mystery, but the clues are fairly there. Interesting characters and resolution..
