I don't generally like short stories, and most of the characters in this one aren't people I'd want to spend time with, but the writing, characters, scene-setting, and pretty much everything else about _Breakfast at Tiffany's_ is simply wonderful. Capote draws pictures with words of a young lady who is fanciful and free, drifting lightly in her own life. The glimpses we have of her past give her roots that draw us in. The narrator's perspective makes the story personal, and is just the right touch. A great short book club read, and I'm sorry to have missed the discussion.
This version also has three short stories besides Tiffany's (House of Flowers, A Diamond Guitar, and A Christmas Memory). "A Christmas Memory" might be my favorite short story I've ever read.
