Perfect for a 2.5 year old. submitted by manyan on June 28, 2011, 12:04pm My 2.5 year old son loved this book. Loved, loved, loved. We had to renew it several times so I could read it to him again and again.
Wonderful

I can remember as a child taking this book and just sitting for what seemed like hours (though probably was only a few minutes) looking at all the things that surround the some of the pictures in this book. I think the copy I owned had illustrations of what horsepower meant inside the front cover as well, though the library's copies do not.
On top of that, the story's a joy to read and the regular illustrations are wonderful to look at. Definitely a children's classic.
Timeless Classic submitted by doctorfang on August 2, 2014, 6:35pm This book is a classic for a reason -- the story and illustration are simply charming. The reading level is appropriate for early readers, but younger ones will love the illustrations and hearing the story.
Katy the snow plow submitted by Alliemayzee on August 21, 2014, 6:56am My 3.5 year old loved this book. Great pictures and story.
Katy is unstoppable, cool, and strong! submitted by jonathanvzx on June 24, 2022, 10:24am I liked this book because it talks about snowplows and there's a cool map of Geopolis to look at. dc
Katy rocks! submitted by Diananana on July 13, 2023, 10:09pm Originally published in 1943, Katy and the Big Snow has stood the test of time. The story is reflective of the values I grew up with-- duty, perseverance, caring for one's community. The illustrations show Katy's progress clearing the snow, from mostly white to details of the busy town coming back to life after the big snow. There is so much to like about it. The author, Virginia Lee Burton, also wrote of Mike Mulligan and His Steam Shovel, and other classics. I love that Katy and Mary Anne, the steam shovel, both have feminine names and are tough and unstoppable.
