A Classic Berenstain Adventure submitted by Meginator on July 4, 2022, 9:18am This book is simple yet charming as it follows the Berenstain Bears during Christmas season, with a gently delivered moral message about avoiding greed and embracing generosity. The story itself is straightforward, with the cubs compiling their lists for Santa Bear and choosing the perfect presents for their parents while Papa Bear waxes unusually philosophical about the magic inherent in the holiday season. The colorful illustrations add additional elements of warmth and humor to the story (especially for older readers who will have to explain what a “pocked calculator” is to the younger set), providing contextual depth to Bear Country and making it feel like a real, vibrant, living community. This is a lovely little story about family that fits in perfectly with the rest of the (justifiably) beloved series.
