COMMUNITY REVIEWS

Rubber Soul submitted by McCartney McCoy on July 28, 2015, 8:38am This is it: This is the first album in which the Beatles began to experiment outside the boundaries of normal pop music from the early '60s. Listen to this album, and you'll hear the genesis of Revolver, Sgt. Pepper's, Magical Mystery Tour, Abbey Road, and all the rest of the later albums.

Some of their best work submitted by EJZ on August 4, 2018, 7:29am Where the White Album is full of their highest water mark on some songs, Rubber Soul is a much more cohesive and listenable album start to finish. The beautiful simplicity of Michelle and the melodic sadness of Norwegian wood have few equals in the catalogue of pop music.

Great album submitted by wysea on July 26, 2019, 7:35pm My parents had a small record collection and this was in it. I would enjoy listening to this and other Beatles albums in our family room which had magnificent earth tone striped shag carpet.

beginning of their streak submitted by tisaallen on June 15, 2022, 9:50am The Beatles' sixth album finds them stretching out, experimenting with different styles and treating the album format as an artistic medium.

An Experiment That Works submitted by Meginator on July 4, 2022, 9:14am This album gets more than its fair share of hype within the scope of the Beatles’ catalog, but it lacks some of the song-for-song consistency of some of their other albums. Nonetheless, the stylistic experimentation feels on the cutting edge of its time (even in retrospect) and the great variety makes every song a nice surprise. The songs themselves are usually quite brief, often less than three minutes, and the album has the feel of a long-form experiment that is still pleasant to listen to. Listening to this feels like hearing the boundaries of UK/US pop and rock music expanding in real time.

Great work submitted by wilcomea on July 19, 2022, 4:09pm A lot of my favorites on this one! Underrated.

Their best submitted by Mtadams on July 12, 2023, 9:07am My favorite album of theirs. Many hidden gems that aren't played as much nowadays
