Hey, I Lived Here! submitted by Meginator on August 21, 2021, 9:50am I stumbled across this while looking for something else and, hey, it turns out that the house I lived in during college in the early 00s is historically significant! Who knew? Definitely not me at the age of 20. At any rate, this book provides some historical context for the formation of the Old Fourth Ward Historic District and a partial catalogue of relevant buildings (usually houses), accompanied by photographs (black and white and a little grainy, unfortunately). Each listing describes some distinguishing architectural details and also provides an ownership history, and while I was surprised by how old some of these buildings are it is also a little disheartening to note how many have since been broken up into apartments. I highly recommend reading this alongside a street-view map, or even while strolling around the neighborhood, since these houses still exist; this is a neat piece of local history.
