Our Old Timey City submitted by Meginator on July 4, 2022, 9:03am This book contains photographs of Ann Arbor from the 1860s to the 1930s, with an emphasis on the earlier part of the period. Many of the featured structures have since been demolished, from plank sidewalks to rows of commercial buildings. The captions are quick and informative, although the editors could have done more to create a chronological or narrative flow; despite the thematic organization, the selection feels at times a bit haphazard. It’s fascinating to see the city grow and change over time and to learn about the people and places whose names still grace local institutions, and this book is a must for anyone interested in local history.
