Your Argus Turret Viewfinder features a precision, selective optical system to show exactly what
you are photographing with the 35mm Wide Angle, 50mm Normal, or lOOmm Telephoto Lens. Your view will
always be magnified to the full proportions of the viewfinder, not reduced in size. An efficient
adjustment compensates for parallax-the differ¥ence which would otherwise occur between the views
covered by the lens and the viewfinder. You see precisely what the lens sees-at all distances.
The Argus Turret Viewfinder can be used on any Argus camera equipped with an accessory shoe. To
mount, slide the viewfinder into the camera's accessory shoe as far as it will go. The end with the
ARGUS name and single lens goes toward the rear of the camera.
Special outlets on the side of the viewfinder allow the use of flash with the Argus C44 and Argus
Flash Extension Bracket. Mount the Flash Extension Bracket on your C44 with the case safety screw,
then plug the cord into the viewfinder's outlets. Mount the C44 Flash Unit on the Flash Extension
Bracket as you would on the camera.
With the viewfinder in place on 'the camera, set the turret on the front of the finder for the
lens you are using. Rotate the turret until an index dot falls into the click-stop opposite the
focal length of your lens (35-50-100). There are three index dots, with click-stops for each. The
illustration shows the setting for the 100mm Telephoto Lens.
It is necessary to rotate the turret through approximately one-third of a turn when changing
settings from one lens to the next. Turret can be rotated either way.
On the rear of the viewfinder is the parallax correction dial with the index mark on top. Rotate
this dial in either direction until the distance from the camera to the subject is opposite
the-index mark. The illustration shows the parallax adjustment sef at 10 feet. Either side of the
double scale can be used.
