Detroit Edison Digging Hole for Electric Pole
Pole Goes Up: A Detroit Edison utility pole digger is in position (left) [this photo] to gouge a hole for a 70-foot pole that gets "planted" (center) and finally straightened (right). The utility spends about $600,000 a year for poles, transmission lines and other equipment to extend service in the 1,200-square-mile district.
