Register now for Library Lego League! Visit any public service desk or call 327-4200 to reserve your spot on one of the four Lego building days: 7/24, 7/31, 8/7, or 8/14.

In teams of four, participants will spend all day, from 10-4 PM, building a robot out of Mindstorms NXT kits in the Downtown Library Multipurpose Room. Teams will face a challenge of the day, where they will have to program their robot to complete a certain task. The top three teams will win prizes, while everyone will leave with a participation ribbon. Pizza will be provided.

Join us at the library for a fun-filled day. Be sure to sign up because space is limited. Check out the L3 Blog to find fellow NXT enthusiasts. See you there!

First-ever Library Lego League Event: Happening Today!

by eli

After AADL staff had fun last week with our Library Lego League dry run, today is the first ever public Library Lego League event, and we are full with 6 teams registered! While the challenge I set for the staff was way too tricky, I've got something much more achievable in mind for our first group of Lego Engineers, and it should be great fun for everyone. Check back here after the event for full details about the first challenge, the winning team, and openings for other upcoming Lego League events at AADL!

Library Lego League Registration Now Open!

by eli

Library Lego League registration is now open! Get your team of four builders going into grades 3-8 together and sign up for one of the three competitions now! Space is limited, and it's first come, first served, so reserve your spot before it's too late. If you're looking for a team to join, you can go ahead and register and check the 'please assign me to a team' box, or you might head over to the L3 Blog, start commenting on a post, and see if you can form a team online.

Library Lego League happens 7/5, 7/12, and 7/26, but before that, AADL staff will be doing our own Library Lego Event as a dry run for the real thing. I'll make a post after our dry run with pictures and details of the surprise challenge I made them face so you can get an idea of what's to come. I'll also post final rules here before the event, and as always, feel free to comment here with your questions (or contactus). I've got 8 Mindstorms NXT sets just sitting in my office waiting to see what YOU can do with them... so get your team together and get registered for the event!
